SPADE Technical Workshop on drones

SPADE hosted a technical workshop at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, Denmark between 23rd and 24th of February, 2023.

The event brought together SPADE participants with technical expertise around the discussion on drone development. Hands-on sessions included drone design overviews and examples to building their own drone and conducting flight tests both indoors and outdoors.

Participants also had the opportunity to visit the SDU labs and enjoy a dinner at the North Atlantic House restaurant.

A plenary meeting took place with all SPADE partners to discuss general information about the project and other topics such as: drones technical requirements, the types of drones to build and to purchase and dissemination of SPADE outputs.

Optical Sensing for Agricultural Applications

SPADE project coordinator Prof. Dionysis Bochtis and Dr. Aristotelis C. Tagarakis, together with Dr. Dimitrios Kateris are guest-editing a Special Issue on “Optical Sensing for Agricultural Applications” for Remote Sensing Journal.

SPADE’s Kick-off meeting

The project’s kick-off meeting took place between 6th and 7th of October, 2022 in Thessaloniki, in Greece. During the first day, the project coordinator, the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), opened the meeting, giving a brief presentation of the project, followed by short presentations of Work Packages (WP) by each leader. After, a session was dedicated to the three pilot cases and another to governance of the project.

This meeting was an opportunity for partners to speak and clarify how they can interact with each other in order to fulfil the project’s goals. SPADE consortium is looking to innovate the use of drones and to impact on new business models, on an updated regulatory framework both at international and national levels, and for improved well-being and safety of the society.
